Celtic Session, Winter 2024-2025

Every Sunday this winter, Eilidh Campbell and a bunch of musician friends, including me—on fiddles, flutes, whistles, bodhrans, mandolins, banjos, guitars—gather at public house/cafe Eli & Trix to play Celtic music round a table in the back. 2-4pm, downtown Mahone Bay just across from the Independent. Please come for a listen—and an ale, latte, tea, hot cider, soup or sweet. This session will go through the winter to brighten the darker months. We hope to fill Sunday afternoons with joy and good cheer!

Monday Night Celtic Music at the Mug & Anchor

On a Monday night (6:30-8:30), if you feel like a very relaxed, socially distanced pub meal in a congenial atmosphere, with musicians squirreled away in the corner having a sweet time playing together, then this is for you! This is not a performance, but a very loose and informal Celtic session of friends playing together. Best to phone ahead to ensure we will be playing; various aspects of scheduling and weather sometimes interrupt.

Flute by Tessa Brinckman, Poetry by Tricia Snell

Tricia’s 4-part poem, Les Filous de la Flûte, will be read by Tessa Brinckman at Brinckman’s “When Flutes Had Words” concert, including a performance of Roussel’s Joueurs de Flûtes (for flute and piano). Each of the four musical movements will be prefaced by one of the four poem parts, which invent new narratives for the mythological flutists (Pan, Tityre, Krishna, and Monsier de la Péjaudie) portrayed in the music.
